Leeds United attacker Pablo Hernandez has played every minute of their Championship campaign so far.
Hernandez is now 33, and Marcelo Bielsa’s demanding style means that he is being tasked with doing a lot of running.
For some ageing players, the physical demands may be too much to cope with.
But Hernandez insists that he has rarely felt fitter, and he is ready to play for Leeds again on Saturday.
“Obviously when you play four or five games in two weeks, the legs are going to be a little tired,” Hernandez said. “But I’m feeling good, my fitness is good and I work hard. I work hard on my recovery and I try to take in food that is good for my body. If the coach wants, I’m ready for the next game.”
Hernandez, who is on a £19,000-a-week contract at Elland Road (Daily Star), was arguably Leeds’ finest player last season, and he has not had a minute off during their league campaign so far.
Hernandez found the back of the net with a fine finish in Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Swansea in midweek, to help the Whites keep up their unbeaten start to the season.
Leeds are next in action against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday, in what looks like a tough match.
