Pablo Hernandez became Leeds United’s first signing of the January transfer window after a successful loan spell.
Pablo Hernandez has suggested that when people told him how big a club Leeds United are when he initially joined, it came as no surprise to him due to his previous knowledge of the team, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
Despite signing for the Championship side on loan in the summer, he became the team’s first signing of the January transfer window as he signed on a permanent basis with a contract that will run until the end of the season with an option for a further year (via Yorkshire Evening Post).

And after putting pen to paper on the deal, Hernandez explained how beginning his career in the Spanish city of Valencia around the turn of the Millennium ensured that he was aware of just big a side Leeds are.
“When I first came here a lot of people told me Leeds United are a big club, but I already knew this from my time at Valencia, when the two sides met in the UEFA Champions League semi-final,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“Leeds has unbelievable fans, an unbelievable stadium, a really good training ground and very professional staff and I really like all of this.
“The fans believe in this team and that is important for the confidence of the team, but we need to stay calm as it is still early in the season.”
Hernandez arguably has the quality to play at the highest level, so perhaps Leeds can feel somewhat fortunate that they have managed to keep hold of him especially after he proved just how influential he could be following his return to England.
But his suggestion that he views the Whites as a big club will perhaps ensure that he continues to play as if he has something to prove and suggests that he will not view Garry Monk’s men simply as a stepping stone.
