Leeds United will be looking to prove their worth against Manchester United in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.
Pablo Hernandez has stated that he is hoping Leeds United’s pre-season clash against Manchester United will be a Premier League game ‘in the future’.
The Elland Road playmaker echoed what many Leeds fans are dreaming of and that is wanting to see ‘more’ clashes like the one against Man United.
The English giants will clash in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday afternoon at Perth’s Stadium in Australia in front of no doubt a sell-out crowd.
It is a big game for Leeds and one where Marcelo Bielsa’s men can test their worth against the Premier League club, as Hernandez spoke about how ‘special’ this clash is for the supporters.
“Obviously it’s a special game for us, for both clubs, for the fans,” Hernandez told the Mirror. “We want to play this game in the Premier League in the future, we hope.
“I think it’s very important for the fans because we want to see this game more times in the future and I think it’s a good moment for the fans to enjoy it.
“I’m sure they’ve been waiting for this game for a long time. Not just in England, outside of England. Leeds is one of the biggest clubs and it’s a big moment for our fans.”
It may state that this is a ‘pre-season friendly’, but it will be far from that, both on the pitch and off the pitch in regards to the atmosphere and hostility from the supporters.
More than likely, both teams will play strong sides as they aim to get into the best shape and mindset possible ahead of their respective campaigns.
But from Leeds’ perspective, it gives them a chance to prove their worth and give themselves serious momentum heading into the Championship season where they will be one of the favourites for promotion.
