Leeds United are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough’s Britt Assombalonga.
The Northern Echo reported on Saturday that Leeds United are one of several clubs interested in Middlesbrough hitman Britt Assombalonga.
Assombalonga, a £15 million signing by Boro last summer, is reported by HITC Sport to have had a training ground row with manager Tony Pulis this week, prompting doubts over his future.
And Leeds are reportedly willing to offer him an escape route to Elland Road.
Having cost so much just 12 months ago, the 25-year-old striker wouldn’t be cheap, but what a lethal combination he and Pablo Hernandez could prove to be in West Yorkshire.
Only four Championship players converted more ‘big chances’ for their team than Assombalonga [13] last season, and a clinical goalscorer is precisely what the Whites need up front.
Interestingly, Hernandez created 15 ‘big chances’ for United last term – a total bettered by only six other players – and it’s obvious that the Spaniard and Assombalonga could be an absolutely ruthless duo.
For now, it is just paper talk, and there may be nothing in it whatsoever, but having a creative wizard like Hernandez setting up a striker as ruthless as the Boro marksman would be a fantastic combination for Leeds and one that could go some way toward Premier League promotion under Marcelo Bielsa.
