Arsenal ace missed Germany’s win over England at Wembley

England were uninspired during their 1-0 home loss to Germany, who fortunately for the Three Lions decided to rest £42.4 million man Mesut Ozil.

What the score might have been if Germany took the game seriously will cause Roy Hodgson sleepless nights if he gives it too much thought, and he was not the only big winner from Jogi Low taking it easy.

Arsenal will have been thrilled to see Mesut Ozil resting up for the weekend clash with Southampton, but he quickly piped up on Twitter after the game to offer congratulations to his teammates.

He described the evening as a ‘great one’ for Arsenal Football Club, with Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny’s France qualifying courtesy of a 3-0 win oved Ukraine.

He congratulated teammates past and present describing Per Mertesacker, who headed the winner over England, and Portugal’s hat-trick hero Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘awesome’.

Few will argue it wasn’t a great evening for Arsenal, Roy Hodgson even rested Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs, both second half substitutes, and importantly the Gunners did not pick up any injuries, with Giroud playing just eight minutes and Koscielny also suspended.

Arsenal will receive confident, rested, and importantly healthy players in time for the weekend, and with Theo Walcott returning too – life is looking very positive in North London.
