Alex Iwobi has been in sensational form for Arsenal this term, and Mesut Ozil is mightily impressed.

Arsenal superstar mesut Ozil has backed his Gunners teammate Alex Iwobi to reach the very highest levels of the game, when speaking to the club’s official website.

The 20-year-old Nigerian international has taken the Premier League by storm since his introduction the Arsenal’s senior side last year, as he continues to impress with his immaculate technique and unflappable nature.

Ozil, 27, explained how Iwobi reminds him of two of the game’s greatest players, when speaking to arsenal.com:

“He reminds me of his uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha. He was a player I loved watching. Alex reminds me of a mixture of him and Edgar Davids. He’s really strong on the ball, also defensively, but he’s good in front of goal too.”

The 87-capped Germany international also went on to discuss how Iwobi, if he continues to work hard, can reach the very top:

“He’s developing really well and if he continues the way he’s been playing the whole season, he will really enhance his game. The manager knows exactly how good he is and I wish him all the best. He is really young and is on a really good path.”

Iwobi has now made 18 league appearances for the Gunners during his fledgling career, and he will now be expected to continue his development, and become a permanent fixture in Arsene Wenger’s first XI this season.

Having the Nigerian youngster as part of his setup has given Wenger a fantastic option, without having to spend ludicrous amounts of money, and his playing style is perfectly suited to the Frenchman’s philosophy of free-flowing attacking football.

Next up for the Gunners is a home game against Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday.
