Ozan Kabak has reacted on Twitter to joining Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
The Schalke centre-back has signed for the Reds on a half-season loan from the Bundesliga outfit.
Jurgen Klopp had a serious crisis of defensive options after it emerged that Joel Matip was ruled out for the season, joining Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez on the long-term injury list.
Prior to deadline day, Liverpool had no senior centre-backs available, but Kabak and the addition of Ben Davies from Preston North End in a £2 million deal offers the German manager some respite.
Here’s what the 20-year-old posted on Twitter yesterday, a day after the move:
The Premier League champions can sign Kabak on a permanent basis for £18 million in the summer and given his potential, combined with the fact he’s only 20, it seems certain that Liverpool will exercise that option when the time comes.
There may be a difficult bedding-in period for the Turkey international – who has seven caps for his country – but Kabak has such a bright future and it’ll be fascinating to see how he fares in the Premier League.
Klopp’s side are home to Brighton tonight and time will tell whether the Liverpool boss throws him into the fold.
