Oxford United are keen to open talks with Long regarding a renewal.

The Oxford United full-back Sam Long is attracting the attention of various other clubs, HITC Sport understands.
Some of the U’s League One rivals, along with a lower-end Championship side’s head of recruitment, are among those taking an interest.
Long ended last season as Karl Robinson’s first-choice right-back, but has found regular football harder to come by this time around.
Nevertheless, he impressed in Oxford United’s 4-0 League Cup against West Ham United last month and scored in a 3-0 league win against Rochdale on Saturday.
Long’s existing contract expires at the end of the season, and the U’s are keen to open talks regarding a renewal.
But the 24-year-old can leave for nothing next summer if an agreement cannot be agreed by then, and it is possible that Oxford United could look to cash in during the January transfer window.

Oxford-born Long – who can also play anywhere across the back line – is a product of the U’s academy system and has proceeded to appear 60 times for his hometown team, having also spent time on loan with both Kidderminster Harriers and Hampton & Richmond Borough.
