Wolverhampton Wanderers have snapped up Oxford United midfielder Tsun Dai.
Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will be hoping for significant additions this summer ahead of their Europa League campaign, but Tsun Dai won’t have been a name on the wish list of many fans.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, but the club have added another player to their Under-23 ranks.
Oxford United confirmed on Wednesday that midfielder Tsun Dai has joined the Premier League club, heading into their Under-23 setup as one for the future.
The 19-year-old started out with Eastern Sports Club and Kitchee in his native Hong Kong, before earning a move to England in 2012 with Reading.
He spent four years with the Royals before heading to Bury in 2016, making 11 first-team appearances for the Shakers, and then joined Oxford last summer.
A loan move to FC Utrecht’s ‘Jong’ side followed, where he registered two assists in 12 outings. Now, Dai finds himself heading to Molineux, in a move which has shocked many.
This may well be, to the more cynical fans, just a commercial move to help Wolves’ progress in the Far East, and that seems to be backed up by Oxford fans’ opinion of the teenager.
Oxford fans have been taking to Twitter to wonder just how the club got real money for Dai, believing that he must have the best agent in football to earn a move to a Premier League club, with others calling the move ‘strange’ and ‘bizarre’.
