The West Ham youngster featured in the FA Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town.
It has been a strange season so far for Reece Oxford, with the youngster barely featuring while on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach before returning to West Ham United amidst uncertainty regarding his long-term future at the club.
RB Leipzig are interested in signing Oxford, as reported by the London Evening Standard, while there have been suggestions that Monchengladbach may attempt to re-sign the prospect on a permanent deal, according to The Telegraph.
For now, however, Oxford remains a West Ham player and played 69 minutes in the hard-fought 1-0 FA Cup third round replay victory at home to Shrewsbury Town last night.
Capable of playing as a centre-back or a defensive midfielder, Oxford featured as a right wing-back against Shrewsbury and, while he is very talented, he clearly isn’t fully fit at present.
Oxford shouldn’t be rushed into action and should be given sufficient time to build up his sharpness but he is still capable of having a successful career at West Ham should the club decide to keep him.
A player with vast potential, Oxford is hugely effective at breaking up play and distributing the ball to his team-mates, with his composure in possession one of his key strengths.
With the right guidance, the youngster can still thrive at West Ham and the club should do all they can to try and retain his services.
