The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is said to want the youngster at Ibrox.

Claims that an offer has been accepted for the Rangers linked centre-back, George Edmundson, have been denied by the owner seemingly trying to stop him from moving to Ibrox.
Sky Sports reported that Edmundson had handed in a transfer request after Rangers had a £500,000 offer rejected by Oldham.
And despite claims made by The Daily Record since then, that Rangers increased their bid by £100,000 – and are even considering meeting his £1 million asking price if they have to – one website has now reported that Peterborough’s approach of £600,000 plus add-ons, has been given the green light.
But asked if he could verify the potential development, the Posh owner, Darragh MacAnthony, replied via Twitter:
“I’m now on holiday for a couple weeks. No truth in any rumour. No deals ongoing for a little while. So ignore any ***** written on transfer blogs”.

Rangers are expected to strengthen their options in Edmundson’s position, having seen Gareth McAuley and Joe Worrall depart since the end of last season.
The 21-year-old was recently named in League Two’s team of the year in his first full campaign for the Latics at senior level.
