Michael Owen has shared how he noticed that Tottenham Hotspur’s players continuously failed to pass to Sergio Reguilon when he was well placed.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, after their live coverage of Tottenham’s game against Chelsea, Owen picked up on how Reguilon kept bombing down the left only to be ignored by a Tottenham teammate.
The worst example of Spurs failing to pass to the attacking left-back was at the end, when Giovani Lo Celso should have slotted him through.
Reguilon looked to be in on goal, but Lo Celso tried a floated shot which went wide.
And Owen was surprised that Reguilon even mustered the energy to make the overlapping run in the closing stages, given the amount of times he had been ignored previously.
“In the first half he made three or four runs and nobody would play him in! I’m surprised he kept going that late,” the former Liverpool striker said. “He must have been thinking ‘oh I’m not doing this any more’.”

Reguilon’s boundless energy has made him a very popular figure at Tottenham, since his £25 million move from Real Madrid this summer (London Evening Standard).
He was clearly frustrated with Lo Celso at the end though, as he was spotted having words with the Argentine at full-time.
Lo Celso’s failure to put Reguilon through ultimately cost Tottenham the chance of winning the three points, with both sides ending up playing out a 0-0 draw.
