Liverpool beat Leicester City 4-1 in the early evening Saturday kick-off.
BT Sport’s Michael Owen before the match
Michael Owen has told BT Sport that everything is in place for Liverpool to challenge to become a top team again.
The Reds were in fine form on Saturday, as they beat Premier League champions Leicester City 4-1 at Anfield.
It was the Reds first home game of the season after they had to wait for their new Main Stand, which has boosted the famous old stadium’s capacity to 54,000, to be completed.

“They’ve got the manager they wanted for a long time, they’ve got a fantastic stadium and they’ve got good owners,” Owen told BT Sport.
“Everything is in place, I think, to really have a good push to break back into that top echelon. Now is the right time to give it a good push.”

The first step towards Liverpool becoming a team that can challenge the elite will be making it back into the top four this season. And Liverpool have shown they can compete with the top teams this season – with wins already over Arsenal and Leicester City. A Champions League slot should be their minimum aim.
In such a competitive Premier League, however, Liverpool will have to find a consistency that has so far alluded them under Klopp – the loss at Burnley being an example.
