Michael Owen has said on BT Sport 1 (11:45am, December 13, 2021) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will win against RB Salzburg in the Champions League Last-16.

Owen has added that no teams left in the Champions League would want to face Liverpool.

As reported by BBC Sport, Liverpool will face RB Salzburg in the last-16 of the Champions League this season.

The first leg of the tie will be placed in Austria in February.

The second leg will be held at Anfield in March.

And former Liverpool striker Owen believes that the Reds will win the tie.

The BT Sports pundit has added that no team would want to face Liverpool in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

Owen said: “I think everybody would want to avoid Liverpool more than anyone in Pot 1. You just simply don’t go to Anfield and win.

“And if you don’t get a big lead in the first game, then you are not going through.

“I think Salzburg have been given the hardest tie of all, and I think Liverpool will be rubbing their hands together.”

Liverpool favourites

In our opinion, Liverpool will head into the tie against RB Salzburg as favourites.

The Reds have one of the best squads in Europe and are doing extremely well at the moment.

Mohamed Salah, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane are just some of the world-class players Salzburg will have to contend with.

Now, of course, we have seen how the underdogs can beat the best teams in knockout competitions.

And Salzburg have a quality striker in Karim Adeyemi, who has actually been linked with Liverpool.

However, we still think that Liverpool will win the tie.
