Owen Hargreaves has said on BT Sport 1 (2:27pm, December 13, 2021) that reported Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool target Lautaro Martinez is perfect for the Premier League.
Hargreaves made the comments about Martinez while looking ahead to the Champions League last-16 tie between Liverpool and Inter Milan.
The former Manchester United midfielder rates the 24-year-old Argentina international striker highly.
Hargreaves said on BT Sport 1 (2:27pm, December 13, 2021): “They have got a player in Lautaro Martinez, who obviously partnered Lukaku, who would be perfect in the Premier League. He would be a threat for them.”
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur interest in Lautaro Martinez
Both Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with Inter striker Martinez.
Calcio Mercato have reported that Liverpool want to sign the striker from Inter.
Eurosport reported in November that Tottenham want to sign Martinez in the summer of 2022.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Lionel Messi’s Argentina international teammate, saying that he is “one of the most exciting strikers in the world”.
Premier League move feasible?
Now, Inter are a big club who are the defending Italian champions.
Inter could actually go on to win the Serie A title this season as well.
So, we do not think that the Milanese giants will sell Martinez in the January transfer window.
However, anything is possible in the summer of 2022.
Liverpool and Tottenham are massive clubs, and the Premier League is the richest and most-watched domestic football league.
Martinez could well be tempted to a move to Liverpool or Tottenham.
