Owen Hargreaves has said on BT Sport 2 (11:27am, March 18, 2022) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will win against Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Premier League giants Liverpool and Portuguese powerhouse Benfica will face each other in the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition this campaign.

The first leg of the tie will be played in Portugal, and the second leg will be held at Anfield.

Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Hargreaves believes that Liverpool will progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Hargreaves said when asked how Liverpool will feel after the draw: “Delighted. Absolutely delighted. After Manchester City they are the strongest side in the competition and got the easiest draw. If Liverpool are anywhere near their normal level, they’ll go through comfortably.”

Liverpool clear favourites v Benfica

In our opinion, Liverpool are the clear favourites against Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The Reds have some of the best players in the world, such as Virgin van Dijk, Alisson and Mohamed Salah.

Having the second leg at home is certainly a big advantage for Liverpool.

We will be shocked if Liverpool are unable to beat Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Now, of course, Benfica are not just going to make it easy for Liverpool and will be aware of the challenge that awaits them.

However, we do not see the Portuguese giants able to keep the likes of Salah, Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota at bay over two legs.
