Tottenham Hotspur need a player like Eden Hazard of Chelsea, suggests Owen Hargreaves.

Former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder Owen Hargreaves suggested on the Live Premier League Tonight show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday evening (broadcast from 8pm, January 14, 2017) that Tottenham Hotspur have a weakness.

Hargreaves believes that Tottenham do not have a star player in the mould of Eden Hazard of Chelsea.

Hazard, who is 26 years of age and can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is one of the best players in the Premier League.

The Belgium international has scored nine goals and created 43 chances in 20 league matches for the Blues so far this campaign.

Belgium's Eden Hazard reacts

“The only thing for me, they miss, is a star-type like a Hazard,” said Hargreaves on the Live Premier League Tonight show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday evening (broadcast from 8pm, January 14, 2017).

“I think they have everything else, great defence, keeper, centre-forward. I think they need a new Bale-type, not a finished Bale, but the next generation of Bale.”

Chelsea's Eden Hazard applauds fans as he walks off to be substituted

While one can understand Hargreaves’s argument, the fact is that Tottenham have done well without a big-name player and playing as a team.

Under manager Mauricio Pochettino, there is harmony inside the dressing room and a strong bond among the players.

Things are working well for Spurs as they are, and fans should be optimistic about the future.

Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 45 points from 21 matches, seven points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
