Owen Hargreaves has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher on Premier League Productions.
The former Manchester United and Manchester City midfielder was impressed by Kelleher’s reaction at full time following the Champions League game between Liverpool and Ajax at Anfield on Tuesday evening.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper started the match, his first in Europe’s premier club competition.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international did well, as the defending Premier League champions booked their place in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
Kelleher could start for Liverpool against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this weekend, and ahead of the match, Hargreaves has raved about him.
The former England international midfielder has pointed out what the 22-year-old did at full time that was very encouraging.
Hargreaves said about Kelleher on Premier League Productions: “The thing I liked after the game, Jurgen Klopp came over to him to embrace him because it was obviously a big moment for him, and how calm he was. He didn’t over celebrate.”
The former midfielder added: “He seems like level-headed. I think they have a good one there, Liverpool.”
Rising star
Kelleher playing ahead of Adrian in a big Champions League game in midweek underlines how much Klopp rates him.
The youngster showed his maturity against Ajax, and his calmness will help Liverpool against Wolves in the Premier League game this weekend.
Alisson, who is injured at the moment, is the first-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool, but the Reds could have a long-term successor to the Brazilian in Kelleher.
