Owen Hargreaves has been quoted as saying by The Daily Star that Tottenham Hotspur could get the better of Juventus in the Champions League.

Premier League club Tottenham will take on Serie A outfit Juventus in the last-16 stage of Europe’s premier club competition this season.

Spurs finished top of their group which had Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, while Juve ended up runners-up in their group.

The Italian giants have some wonderful players and have extensive experience of playing in the Champions League.

Former Manchester City midfielder Hargreaves, who won the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2001 and with Manchester United in 2008, has suggested that Spurs could get the better of Juventus.

“For Tottenham obviously it’s difficult,” The Daily Star quotes Hargreaves as saying. “Juventus are not the same as the past and I think Tottenham, I believe could get through against Juventus.”

Meanwhile, former Liverpool and Newcastle United Michael Owen has backed Mauricio Pochettino’s side Tottenham to pick up all three points against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Wembley Stadium in London in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Spurs are sixth in the league table at the moment, while Brighton are currently 13th in the standings.

“Brighton have never won at Wembley in three previous visits and it is hard to make a case for the Seagulls who have picked up just one point in their last four games and were no match for another of the newly-promoted clubs Huddersfield at the weekend,” Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.

“Harry Kane’s brace against Stoke now means the striker has scored 50 goals this calendar year for club and country and the striker will be looking to add to that impressive tally when Chris Hughton takes his side to face his old club.”

A footnote added: “Tip: Spurs at win to nil at 37/40.”
