Cetic's Efe Ambrose lies injured

Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has been quoted as saying by The Daily Record that he wants to sign Celtic defender Efe Ambrose on a permanent contract in the summer transfer window.

Ambrose joined Championship club Blackburn on loan from Scottish Premiership outfit Celtic in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who can operate as a centre-back or as a right-back, is out of contract at the Bhoys in the summer.

Blackburn manager Coyle has said that he would like to recruit the Nigeria international on a permanent deal at the end of the season.

“Efe is out of contract in the summer so if he does well, that could be a view to trying to keep him,” The Daily Record quotes Coyle as saying.

Ambrose has been struggling for playing time at Celtic this season, and it is clear that manager Brendan Rodgers does not fancy him.

With his contract at the Glasgow giants running out at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, it would make sense for the defender to move on.

Blackburn are in danger of getting relegated to League One at the end of the season, but if Ambrose helps them to retain their Championship status for the 2017-18 campaign, then he could well earn a permanent move to Ewood Park.
