It has been a poor start to the season for Rovers, but can Coyle turn the season around?
Blackburn manager Owen Coyle
The transfer window has come and gone, meaning that it is time for Owen Coyle to focus on what he has to do to turn around what has been a dreadful start to the new Championship campaign for Blackburn Rovers.
One point out of a possible 15 doesn’t exactly fill any Rovers fan with optimism, especially with the off-field problems just as concerning as what is going on the pitch.
A large proportion of Blackburn supporters are still infuriated by the situation, with the Venkys seemingly uninterested with the football club and making Coyle’s task even more difficult.

Rovers are a club rapidly falling with no sense of direction or belief. A new season should spark optimism and hope that your side can bring success, but this term it was met with animosity, negativity. Things have perhaps not been helped by the appointment of Coyle, a manager who has led several of their rivals in Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Burnley. It has not been the best of starts.
Coyle dipped late into the market last week with the double signing of Derrick Williams and a season-long loan for Tommie Hoban, the latter of whom who seemed to shore up the defence and won the man of the match award on his debut.
Adding to the defensive pair were Marvin Emnes, who lacked regular first-team football at Swansea City, and Charlie Mulgrew from Celtic coming in to add some much-needed quality.

Coyle will be known for what he did at Burnley, taking the Clarets up to the Premier League. However, since then it has been something of a downward spiral. He relegated Bolton Wanderers, endured an short and less than successful stint in charge at Wigan, and then a mediocre spell as Houston Dynamo manager in MLS, winning only 14 of his 49 games in charge.
His recent managerial jobs will not give any Blackburn supporter confidence, especially given the position they find themselves in. However, the rot has to come to a halt at some point, and Coyle will be desperately hoping that his late activity in the transfer window can be the catalyst for a change in fortunes.
