Owen Coyle has stated the departed Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen was ‘hyped up’ following his move to Mexican side Monterrey.
The 25-year-old striker has seemingly made the switch to Mexican’s top-tier for a fee in the region of £6.3 million, as reported by BBC Sport.
After moving to White Hart Lane in 2016 from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, Janssen hasn’t been able to fulfil what was expected of him at North London.
Speaking to Football Daily on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Bolton manager Coyle stated that the Premier League has proven to be ‘unforgiving’ in Janssen’s case.
“I think it was always going to be difficult because if Tottenham were going to play with one main striker then the only time your displacing Harry Kane is when he’s injured,” Coyle told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“The disappointment with Janssen is that when he was given chances, which he did initially, he didn’t score as many goals. And he was hyped up.
“I think when you come with a price and a pedigree you are expected to deliver. But the Premier League can be unforgiving, especially for strikers.”
One thing that cannot be faulted is Janssen’s effort at trying to make it work at Tottenham, but things just couldn’t fall into place for the striker.
Even Mauricio Pochettio, who has been known to bring the best out of youngsters and those who are faltering in their careers, struggled to help Janssen in his game.
