Liverpool-owned Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria has told The Scottish Sun that Steven Gerrard’s side can beat Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Ejaria, who joined Rangers on loan from Premier League club Liverpool in the summer transfer window, made the comments after this weekend’s round of matches in the Scottish Premiership.

Both Celtic and Rangers won their respective matches, and now the Hoops are just two points clear of the Gers at the top of the league table.

Ejaria believes that Rangers can win the league title this season, and 21-year-old England Under-21 international midfielder – who earns £2000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has also said that Celtic are a very good side.

When asked if Rangers can challenge for the title, Ejaria told The Scottish Sun: “Yes, definitely. There are a lot of top players here and everyone is focused.

“That’s our goal. As I said, we will take each game as it comes because it is a long season.

“It’s close at the top. We know Celtic are a very good side and we’re a very good side as well, so we’re confident we can do really well.”

Challenging for the title

Celtic have the best squad in Scotland, and the Bhoys are firm favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

However, the way Rangers have performed so far this season and the confidence the players have suggests that the Gers will give their bitter Old Firm rivals a run for their momeny.
