Tottenham Hotspur youngster Rodel Richards is making an impression too.
Rodel Richards is in a nice little run of form for Tottenham Hotspur’s academy and it should not go unnoticed.
The young striker is being totally overshadowed by wonderkid Troy Parrott, who is about to be fast tracked to the first team, amid impressive form for club and country.
Parrott, 17, is a little younger than Rodel Richards, now 19.
Richards plays more of a deeper role as a second striker, and previously linked up prolificly with Reo Griffiths for Tottenham’s under-18s.
At the time he impressed by netting a hat-trick against Arsenal’s under-18s side.
While yet to score himself this season, Richards has two assists to his name, including the through ball for Parrott in the UEFA Youth League yesterday.
He has not found the step up to under-23 football so fruitful as the under-18s, where he averaged a goal more than one every other game, 15 in 29.
He scored three times for the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League last season and his contribution yesterday caught the eye.
Time is working against him, if he compares himself to Parrott, and its tough to say whether he has a future at Spurs.
Richards must keep on working, and honing the creative side to his game, try and score a few more goals, and potentially secure himself a loan move in January.
He is being overtaken by Parrott, but he looks like a generation talent. Richards can still have a big future too if he works hard.
