Tom Huddlestone was linked with a shock move to Serie A outfit Udinese on transfer deadline day before remaining in the Championship with Derby.

One of the oddest rumours of the entire January transfer window emerged during the final few hours of deadline day.
According to Sky Sports, Tom Huddlestone could have left Derby County for a move to Italy with Udinese. It is understood that the 32-year-old had even entered into talks with the Serie A outfit.
But, once January became February, Huddlestone was still in the East Midlands with a shock switch to the continent ruled out. In truth, Derby were never sure that they wanted to sell despite the veteran’s contract expiring at the end of the season, Sky add.

Though it seems that there is a fair few Derby fans who would have welcomed Huddlestone’s departure.
Yes, the experienced playmaker is one of the best passers of the ball anywhere in the Championship with the technical ability that earned him four caps for England still there for all to see.
On the other hand, however, he is far from a typical Frank Lampard type of midfielder. The former Chelsea boss has preferred the energy of Craig Bryson, George Evans and co with Huddlestone starting just 13 Championship matches.
But he has from now until May to silence the doubters at Pride Park.
