Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing the race to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk amid interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

It’s been reported for quite some time that the Gunners are keen on Mudryk – while it’s also been hinted that the player wants to head to the Emirates, but things have become complicated over the past few days.

Indeed, Chelsea have now entered the race to sign the Ukrainian flyer, and it really sounds as though the Blues are serious about signing Mudryk with The Telegraph claiming that they’re ready to outbid Arsenal.

However, despite Graham Potter’s side’s attempts, Mudryk has reportedly once again reiterated his desire to join Arsenal over the 24 hours.

Mudryk has made his desire clear

Bailey says that Mudryk has made it clear over the past 24 hours that he wants a move to the Emirates.

“He wants to go to Arsenal, he’s made that clear over the past 24 hours as well from our understanding. Arsenal are not too amused by Chelsea coming in. You can’t stop them from talking to Darijo Srna, but there is a belief in the Arsenal camp that it will get done. I think Shakhtar will come back down, there is a belief that agreement will come and Mudryk will get his wish of joining the title-challengers Arsenal,” Bailey said.

Not his choice

Sadly, Mudryk doesn’t have complete autonomy over where he goes next.

Indeed, until Arsenal agree a fee with Shakhtar Donetsk, he won’t be able to join the Gunners.

As much as both parties want this deal to happen, it can’t go ahead until Shakhtar give the deal a greenlight – something they’ve been hesitant to do so far.

The Ukrainian giants have stood firm with their £88m valuation of the player, and unless Arsenal cough up the cash, Mudryk won’t be headed to the Emirates.
