Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been speaking about recent claims linking Kylian Mbappe with a move to Liverpool.
It was widely reported this week that Mbappe wants out of PSG, and apparently, the only club Le Parisiens will sell to is the Reds.
Of course, whether or not Liverpool will cough up the cash for Mbappe is another matter entirely, but it’s certainly a rumour that’s doing the rounds.
However, according to Jacobs, there’s one player the Reds would like to sign ahead of Mbappe – Jude Bellingham.
Indeed, the reporter states that Bellingham is the Reds’ top priority ahead of Mbappe this summer.

Bellingham over Mbappe
According to Jacobs, Liverpool would rather sign Bellingham than Mbappe.
“Bellingham will be Liverpool’s priority over Mbappe at this stage, whereas from Real Madrid’s point of view, let’s say they get Mbappe, they also may not get Bellingham. So if Liverpool want Belingham and so do Real, and then Real want Mbappe, that actually allows Liverpool a slightly clearer path to Bellingham. Although that is a very open race,” Jacobs said.
Understandable
While Kylian Mbappe is the better player out of these two, it’s understandable that Liverpool would rather sign Bellingham at this moment in time.
The one glaring hole in this Liverpool team is in the midfield.
Thiago and Jordan Henderson are getting on in terms of age, while Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are far too injury prone to play for a team like Liverpool.
The Reds’ attack is just fine. Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah are all brilliant options, and while Mbappe would be the icing on the cake there, it would be nothing more than a luxury signing.
Signing Bellingham over Mbappe may be the wiser move here.
