Tottenham Hotspur fans are urging Daniel Levy to go for Graham Potter instead of Gennaro Gattuso.
It was widely anticipated that Gattuso would land the Tottenham job, but the Athletic have reported this morning that talks have broken down.
That leaves Spurs back at square one, as they look for a new manager.
Gattuso looked like a poor fit, given that Levy said that he was looking for an attacking coach, who reflects the club’s DNA.
Gattuso is also a combustible character, and there must have been concerns over how he will handle the structure at Tottenham.
And many Spurs fans now feel that the time has come to put Potter in charge, after so many failed attempts.
Better choice?
Potter was initially linked with Tottenham early on in their managerial search.
Indeed, it was claimed in Football London that some Tottenham players would have welcomed his appointment.
The Brighton boss quickly seems to have fallen out of contention though.
Even if Spurs did go for him, there is no guarantees he would come and Brighton would surely put up a fight to keep him.
However, his arrival would look a much safer bet than Gattuso’s potential appointment was, given his Premier League experience.
