Well, Newcastle United supporters might have to wait a little longer before seeing Bruno Guimaraes in action.
The Magpies spent £40 million on signing the Brazilian midfielder from Lyon during the January transfer window.
Newcastle signed five players during the winter but Bruno is comfortably the highest-profile player to arrive on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe gave him a brief cameo in the victory over Everton at St James’s Park in midweek, introducing him on 91 minutes.
However, the Untied manager has refused to confirm whether he’s going to start at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon – even if he’s looking like an ‘outstanding talent’ in training at Benton, stressing the time must be right.
He said to Sky Sports: “He is certainly someone we’re keen to see play. He’s an outstanding talent, we’ve seen that in training already and in his very brief cameo the other night. But it will have to be at the right time to introduce him to the starting eleven.”
Encouraging
It certainly bodes well for Newcastle that they’re thriving without Bruno at the moment.
Howe’s outfit have won their last two Premier League outings to escape the relegation zone, with the Magpies sitting 17th in the standings.
Signings like Kieran Trippier at right-back have already had a massive impact on the pitch in the North East.
So there’s just no telling how much better Newcastle will be getting when Bruno is ready for the starting lineup every single week.
