Aston Villa were eliminated from the League Cup on penalties by Chelsea, but it was yet another night to remember for Cameron Archer.
The 19-year-old striker once again led the line for Dean Smith’s side. Archer was given the nod in the second round against AFC Barrow. However, when faced with the European champions, the teenager once again delivered.
The attacker levelled the game 64 minutes in with a glorious header past Kepa Arrizabalga. It was the fourth goal Archer had scored in this season’s League Cup campaign, and it made Chelsea fans silent.
Whilst Villa ultimately lost on the night, it was a stunning performance from the Midlands side. As well as Archer, Marvelous Nakamba and Kourtney Hause also impressed at Stamford Bridge.
It took penalties for Chelsea to claim progression to the next round of the League Cup. Yet Villa can walk away from west London with their heads held high, and for Archer, another stunning achievement in the youngster’s short career.
Moreover, on social media, Villa fans agreed that Archer was one of the star performers against Chelsea. The forward faced a stacked Blues XI which included the likes of Reece James, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell.

Here’s what some Villa fans had to say about Archer and his display against Chelsea on Twitter…
