Tim Sherwood has lauded Leandro Trossard after he helped Arsenal secure a thumping 5-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 29-year-old hasn’t exactly been a starter for Mikel Arteta this season, or since he joined back in January 2023.
But, as Tim Sherwood pointed out, Leandro Trossard ‘affects football matches’ every time he is on the pitch for Arsenal, as he told Premier League Productions (17/02/24 at 5:10 pm).
From his last five Premier League games, he has scored four goals, three of them are starts and you would imagine more will now be coming his way.
Gabriel Jesus’ recent injury has opened the door for the £27 million signing to start because, usually, he is playing second fiddle to the Brazilian or Gabriel Martinelli out on the left.
What is even more impressive about Leandro Trossard is that he has stepped forward when Arsenal have needed him most.
Before the winter break, things were going well for the Premier League title challengers, but they have returned a different animal.
Leandro Trossard’s impact for Arsenal
“Trossard affects football matches,” said Sherwood. “Every time, he is out there, he assists or scores. An outstanding signing.”

Big games coming up for Arsenal
There are some big fixtures coming up for Arteta and his players, which will now test their squad depth and their bottle whilst under pressure.
Arsenal will make a trip to Portugal to take on Porto in the first leg of their Champions League knockout stage on Wednesday, before hosting Newcastle United on Saturday night.
This is the time for the players to deal with such a fixture schedule because it’s not exactly kind on their legs and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Newcastle pounce on their tiredness.
Either way, if they come through that, then it’s the small matter of bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United, before Brentford, Porto, Chelsea and Manchester City in March, which will really define where this team really is at.
