Rangers secured a vital victory against ten men at Pittodrie

Steven Gerrard has hailed Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian’s double fired Rangers to victory in Aberdeen.
Morelos has endured a frustrating season after being strongly linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Lille in the summer, but has shown signs of recapturing his form in recent weeks.
He put the league leaders ahead with an excellent shot on the turn in the first half, and he doubled Rangers’ advantage five minutes into the second period when he drilled home after the ball broke to him from a Joe Aribo cross.

Matty Reynolds pulled one back for the hosts 23 minutes from time, but Morelos’ goals ensured Rangers headed back to Glasgow with three crucial points.
Morelos was named Man of the Match, and Gerrard singled him out for praise.
Asked on Sky Sports how pleased he was with the 24-year-old, Gerrard replied: “I’m delighted with him, because something seems to have changed in the last couple of weeks.
“He’s training ever so well. He seems really happy.
“Maybe that’s because he’s playing more and he’s feeling sharper, but he’s training well, and I think his performance today has come on the back of him working really hard.
“We need him firing, from now until the end of the season. If we do, it’ll certainly be a huge help to us.
“I thought his two goals were typical Morelos goals. Getting half a yard in the box.

“I felt he played closer to the goal today than previous. When you’re lacking a bit of confidence and the goals are not coming sometimes you go further away from the goal as a striker instead of going the other way.
“Credit to him. Outstanding, and deserves his Man of the Match.”
That result puts Rangers 22 points clear at the top of the Premiership, with Celtic set to play one of their four games in hand against Hibs on Monday night.
