Gary Dicker has sung the praises of Greg Taylor, as he has enjoyed an ‘outstanding’ season with a ‘new lease of life’ under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic, speaking with the Daily Record.
Taylor’s former Kilmarnock captain feels the full-back can sometimes go under the radar at Parkhead, despite his impressive campaign. The £1.5m arrival from Rugby Park in 2019 has been a mainstay of Postecoglou’s plans if fit, having missed a chunk after shoulder surgery.
The 24-year-old’s injury kept him out for three months as Postecoglou got settled in at the Premiership giants. Yet Taylor played his 28th game of the season on Sunday as the Hoops won the Old Firm derby. The Ibrox affair also marked his 26th start of the term to date.

A string of dynamic runs from full-back set the tone for Taylor’s afternoon at Rangers last week. The Scot came close to assisting Tom Rogic, too. He also came in clutch for Celtic defensively to thwart Joe Aribo, deny Ryan Kent and restrict James Tavernier’s deliveries.
Gary Dicker feels Greg Taylor ‘doesn’t always get the plaudits’ for Celtic form
Taylor has often struggled to deliver an end product for Celtic over his appearances so far this term. The defender has just a single assist recorded in August, and is also yet to score under Postecoglou. He found Liel Abada to net during the Hoops’ 6-0 win over St Mirren.

Offering an all-round presence at full-back can see Taylor slip under the radar occasionally, though, for Dicker. But the former Killie captain is in awe of what the full-back has shown.
“Greg doesn’t always get the plaudits when it is going well,” Dicker said. “But when it isn’t going so good, he’s one of the first to get it in the neck. In all the games I’ve watched him since he’s been at Celtic, he’s done well.
“He’s a good defender. He gets forward, and has probably had a new lease of life under Ange with his runs. Whether it is inside, popping up in midfield or making runs in behind… His performances overall this season for Celtic have been outstanding.”
