Martin Keown has said on talkSPORT (11:43am, March 3, 2023) that Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo could prove to be an “outstanding” signing for the Reds.
The Arsenal legend has said that although there are question marks over Gakpo at the moment, the 23-year-old could prove to be a brilliant signing for Liverpool in the coming years.
The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners signed the 23-year-old from PSV in the January transfer window.
The Netherlands international winger has made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Liverpool since his move in January.
Gakpo has scored two goals in those matches.
The attacker has also played once in the UEFA Champions League and thrice in the FA Cup for Liverpool.

Keown said about Gakpo: “Gakpo, is he good enough, Jim? Is he really at the level? I think he may prove to be an outstanding signing.”

Staying positive
Cody Gakpo has looked good on occasions in the Premier League for Liverpool, but we know that he is far from his best at the moment.
The winger has yet to explode in England.
In the Eredivisie this season before his move to Liverpool in January, the forward scored nine goals and gave 12 assists in 14 matches.
We are not seeing the same confident and potent Gakpo at Anfield at the moment.
However, Liverpool fans should stay positive.
After all, Gakpo is only 23 and has just moved to the Premier League.
