Despite enduring a nightmarish campaign so far, Mohamed Salah bit back at his critics by scoring a brilliant brace in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Egyptian icon first latched on to a pass courtesy of Darwin Nunez inside the box to fire the Reds into an early lead in the 11th minute.
In the 40th minute, the former Roma forward capitalised on a shambolic Eric Dier backpass to expertly dink the ball past a hapless Hugo Lloris and give the visitors a two-goal cushion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

While Salah’s pair of well-taken finishes naturally grabbed the headlines after Liverpool’s win on Sunday night, Jurgen Klopp highlighted the decorated winger’s all-round performance against Spurs.
“Tonight, what impressed me the most is he scored two goals and then he played like a real, real team player”, he told the BBC after the contest, as relayed by talkSPORT.
Klopp elaborated, “I am not surprised by that but it is just important because he got confronted with these questions as well about the slow start and then it is like (in his head), you have to score a hat-trick.
But it was all about first defending and then you will get your chances again. Really pleased for him, top performances and sure, outstanding attitude tonight.”
After Liverpool reportedly made the exception of breaking their set wage structure to make Mohamed Salah the most handsomely paid player in the club’s history, all eyes were on him to repay the side by scoring goals galore this season.
While the 30-year old is yet to meet expectations from a goalscoring standpoint this term, Jurgen Klopp was right in shedding a light on his all-round showing against Antonio Conte’s men.
As Mohamed Salah’s adept link-up play, astute movement and tireless pressing stood out aside from his goals, his incredible display was yet another reminder of why there aren’t many more complete forwards than him on the planet.
