Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Robbie Fowler Podcast that he has great admiration for Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa and has for many years now.
Bielsa is always talked up by his peers as one of the leading coaches in the Premier League, and Rodgers felt no differently to many of his colleagues.
The Leeds boss was a manager who Rodgers cited as one of the leading lights in the Premier League.
He said: “Bielsa is someone I’ve admired from way back when he was manager in Argentina.
“I’ve got footage of him from way back, and have followed his career from that.
“He’s an outstanding coach, a guy that wants to develop players, he has a unique man-marking style which makes it difficult for any time.
“He’s someone I admired and also for his sporting behaviour as well, he likes his team to win and play in a certain way while also carrying a respect for officials and the game. I always feel he’s very honest.”
Bielsa certainly deserves a great deal of credit for helping to mastermind a hugely impressive season at Leeds this term.
The Whites have adapted to being back in the Premier League rapidly after promotion, and have never looked under any threat of relegation.
Leeds now sit in 11th place, after claiming 42 points from 30 games to date.
Leeds’ latest victory came against Sheffield United, who they beat 2-1 at the weekend.
