Illan Meslier was so unlucky to be on the losing side as West Ham United nicked a victory at Leeds United.

Michail Antonio scored a brilliant winner in the 90th minute to give the Hammers a 2-1 win at Elland Road.

If not for Leeds’ goalkeeper, the scoreline would’ve been far harsher for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

That’s because the young Frenchman made a series of fantastic saves to keep out West Ham.

And here’s what Stephen Warnock said about Meslier – a £5.5 million signing last summer – to BBC Radio 5 Live.

He said: “Outstanding save from Meslier – it’s a hat-trick of saves for him. “

How did Leeds lose?

Antonio scored a fine winner, knocking the ball past Jamie Shackleton en route to slotting beyond a helpless Meslier.

But West Ham equalised earlier in the second half and Meslier was helpless on that occasion too, with Jarrod Bowen’s double deflection off Liam Cooper and Junior Firpo wrong-footing the stopper.

Raphinha had opened the scoring to give the Whites a 1-0 lead at the break but, for whatever reason, the hosts failed to turn up after the break and West Ham dominated.
