Birmingham City boy and Watford star Troy Deeney has told new Blues boss Steve Cotterill where the team needs to improve.

Lifelong Birmingham fan Deeney has found himself in hot water with Arsene Wenger, Jack Wilshere and even his own manager Marco Silva this week after airing his opinions on Arsenal ‘lacking cojones’.
The striker is not backward in coming forward with his opinions and he took time out to discuss his beloved Blues in a lengthy Twitter session this week.
Deeney has backed the appointment of Steve Cotterill as boss but has told the new manager where Birmingham must improve.

“A lot of pace in the team,” Deeney said of Birmingham on Twitter.
“Just need to be better defensively and we should be able to build on that.
“Just make us solid and competitive and then each window build on that.
“Solid if not creative (under Cotterill so far) but I think personally that’s what’s needed right now and build on that.”

Blues are just one point above the bottom three in the Championship a quarter of the way through an all too familiar season.
They also have the third worst goal difference in the division.
But Cotterill got his tenure off to the best possible start by beating then leaders Cardiff City 1-0 and can leapfrog Saturday’s opponents Millwall with a win in London.
