Tottenham Hotspur fans absolutely loved seeing Tanguy Ndombele’s composure in the 78th minute of their game against Newcastle United yesterday.
Excellent display
With Tottenham 3-1 up in the contest, Ndombele could have been forgiven for taking the safe option, when Newcastle players closed in on him near his own box.
But Ndombele is not usually one for taking the easy option in possession.
As such, the Frenchman decided to show off his box of tricks, deep inside his own half.
Ndombele first got past Javier Manquillo, before skinning Jonjo Shelvey, which led to the Newcastle player’s first booking of the contest.
The piece of skill showed just how confident Ndombele was after scoring the first goal of the contest.
And Tottenham fans loved watching their record signing working his magic late on.
Consistency needed
The moment highlights why Ndombele has been such a frustrating purchase for Spurs.
His ability has never been in doubt, but he has failed to produce on a consistent basis since arriving.
However, if Ndombele can continue to put in performances of the quality that he produced yesterday, then it won’t be long before he really does live up to his potential and starts to pay back his monumental price-tag.
