‘Outrageous all-round performance’: Alan Shearer raves about Tottenham star

Newcastle United and England legend Alan Shearer named his team of the week after last weekend’s round of Premier League games.

The team was dominated by four Aston Villa players after their fourth straight win the league this season. Tottenham could have had a few of their own in the XI, but their capitulation in the last 15 minutes meant there was only room for one.

Shearer picked Harry Kane to lead his line after the Spurs man scored twice and picked up an assist against the Hammers in the first half. The England skipper’s goal-saving action in his own box earned plaudits from supporters too, but his side’s display in the final quarter of the game meant that they only got a point for all his efforts.

However, that didn’t stop Shearer from heaping praise on his compatriot. The former Newcastle man raved about Kane and claimed that his performance on Sunday ‘had everything’.

Shearer told the Premier League’s official website: “An outrageous all-round performance which had everything. He scored two fantastic goals, produced a glorious pass for Son Heung-min’s strike and made a great last-ditch block in his own box.”

The result was a hugely disappointing one for Tottenham considering that they were 3-0 up and cruising until the 81st minute. The draw means that Spurs are yet to win any of their three league game at home this season; a really worrying record.

Kane has been outstanding for Spurs so far

However, Kane’s stats this season will fill Jose Mourinho with a lot of confidence. The Englishman has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in just seven starts in all competitions this season.

Spurs fans cannot ask for more from their talisman, but their results need to improve quickly to keep hold of him. Kane has made it clear that he isn’t afraid to leave Tottenham if they don’t win trophies soon.

In Mourinho and Bale, Spurs have serial winners now, and they should be aiming to win at least one trophy by the end of of this season. Tottenham face LASK in the Europa League tomorrow and that is one competition they should go all out for this term.
