Celtic is the most ‘attractive’ job available to Jesse Marsch at the moment despite reports linking the former Leeds United boss with French giants Monaco and the USA national team.
At least, that is the view of Herculez Gomez; the former MLS and USMNT striker discussing the future of the Wisconsin-born 49-year-old in conversation with ESPN.
Either Jesse Marsch emerged from highly disappointing spells at Leeds and RB Leipzig with his reputation unscathed, or he has quite the agent.
Because, according to Sky Sports, Marsch is one of the early candidates to replace the masterful Ange Postecoglou at Celtic, despite boasting a win rate around the 30 per cent mark since the start of 2021/22.

Simon Jordan, the former Crystal Palace owner, believes Celtic would be ‘mad’ to hand the reigns to a man who, after stepping into Marcelo Bielsa and Julian Nagelsmann’s shoes, failed miserably to build upon the foundations laid down by his meticulous predecessors.
And Gomez has a point when he suggests that, for Marsch, the Celtic job may be an opportunity too good to miss in his current situation.
Will Celtic really hire Jesse Marsch as their new manager?
“For Jesse Marsch, what is most attractive for him right now? Celtic,” argues the former Colorado Rapids, San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto FC forward.
“Now, I’m looking at Monaco. Since Thierry Henry was there in 2016, they’ve had six coaches. So it’s a bit of a volatile situation. I don’t know if Jesse Marsch wants to go from one volatile situation like at Leeds to another one at Monaco.
“You look at the US Men’s National Team and, yes, he’s mentioned it’s a bit of a dream of his. But, right now, its also a bit of a hot potato with the player pool and how much they are struggling.
“I think Jesse Marsch is thinking; ‘If I take this (job), can I go back to Europe? Can I get these opportunities again?’.”
At Celtic, Marsch would be taking over a side with 11 league title wins in their last 12 seasons. Five domestic trebles in the last eight.
“Celtic is a team that, since 2010, has only had seven coaches. It’s a much more stable situation. You are going to be fighting for silverware every season. It’s a massive platform, as you can see by their last coach going to Tottenham Hotspur,” Gomez adds.
“And it’s Champions League or Europa League. If you are thinking about the most attractive, that would be the most attractive for me.”
