Sky Sports pundit David Prutton predicted the outcome of tomorrow’s Championship clash between Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough at Hillsborough, when writing his regular prediction column for Sky Sports.

Both the Owls and Boro were hotly tipped for promotion at the start of the season, but have failed to live up to what was expected of them.

Carlos Carvalhal manager of Sheffield Wednesday looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday at Macron Stadium on October 14, 2017 in...

Carlos Carvalhal’s men currently sit in a lowly 15th position, after their paltry return of just 27 points from their 22 Championship games, whilst Garry Monk’s side aren’t faring much better, and currently occupy 10th spot.

Tomorrow’s clash will be a huge one for both sides, and it could be argued that a defeat for Wednesday would rule out their hopes of earning promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Garry Monk the Middlesbrough manager looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage on September 23, 2017 in London, England.

Prutton, though, explained why he believes both sides will be leaving Hillsborough disappointed come 16:45 tomorrow evening, when writing his prediction column for Sky Sports:

“Is time running out for Carlos Carvalhal? You can’t really judge any side for losing against Wolves, as they did last week, but the Owls are without a win in six now and they’re running out of time to make a play-off push. Garry Monk will be feeling the strain as well. Middlesbrough just can’t ever seem to get a run going and they’re also falling out of top-six contention. A draw here for me.”

Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Middlesbrough

The hosts can climb as high as 12th in the table with all three points tomorrow, whilst the visitors can leap up to eighth with a much-needed victory.
