Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that Arsenal need to ship Mesut Ozil, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi out this summer.
Ozil and Sokratis have both fallen out of favour under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship, but Mustafi has actually played regularly.
Mustafi has shown signs of improvement since Arteta arrived at Arsenal, but Nicholas still has very little confidence in the German international.
And he has suggested that Arsenal must improve defensively if they are to start challenging at the top end of the table again.
“If the defence is sorted, they can start moving up the table,” Nicholas said.
“Some players need moving out of the door, Mesut Ozil, Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi – these players have to move on, and Arsenal need to freshen things up.
“The defence is key to the rebuild, they have been rebuilding for seven, eight years, this period in particular has been awful for Arsenal fans, but I think Arteta knows the right path to take.”

Arsenal are working on a limited budget so Arteta could be forced to sell to buy this summer.
The Spanish boss already seems to be planning to have a clear out at Arsenal, with plenty of players’ futures at risk.
Of the aforementioned trio, Mustafi could be the most difficult to offload for Arsenal.
The World Cup winner is out injured until October, which could put any potentially interested buyers off.
