Tony Cascarino says Richarlison has been ‘out of sorts’ at Tottenham Hotspur and he is someone that just ‘hasn’t done well’ since his transfer from Everton last summer.
The former Republic of Ireland international felt that Richarlison might have been the long-term replacement for Harry Kane, as he told talkSPORT.
But during his debut campaign for Tottenham, he only managed to score one Premier League goal for the club.
The man who brought him in – Antonio Conte – was booted out by Daniel Levy towards the end.
Whilst that could be used as an excuse, the £90k-a-week player (Spotrac) still needs to look in the mirror because he can’t get things wrong under Ange Postecoglou ahead of the new campaign.
Either way, Cascarino has been left disappointed by what Richarlison has brought to the table since his big-money transfer from Everton.
“I believe the year before, although it didn’t work out because Richarlison was quite disappointing,” said Cascarino.
“I thought they bought Richarlison thinking that, if we get him in this year and we lose Kane next year, then we will probably use Richarlison.
“But he just hasn’t done well enough at Spurs. He has been disappointing. He has looked out-of-sorts. He hasn’t looked like the Everton Richarlison.”

However it comes about, the Brazil international just needs a few goals during the opening weeks of the season just to keep his critics away.
No matter how scrappy it looks, it’s needed, or else, he will be verbally battered by all.
Whilst Antonio Conte’s defensive system was used as an excuse last season, the man who is in the dugout now is the most attack-minded coach they have had since Mauricio Pochettino.
So, if you can’t score goals under Ange Postecoglou, then the issue is with yourself and yourself only.
