Newcastle United fans have been left frustrated with Martin Tyler’s commentary yesterday, after he defended Steve Bruce fairly vehemently during their game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Bruce appears to be in his last few days at Newcastle, with the 60-year-old boss expected to leave before too long.
But Tyler certainly seemed to be of the opinion that Bruce had been harshly treated at St. James’ Park.
He said, during Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham yesterday: “Whatever the future holds he will leave here with his head held high when that decision comes.
“You do feel that the actual confirmation of the takeover went through so quickly, that might just have caught the decision makers on the back foot.
“All sorts of names linked with it, it’s been a terrible week for Steve Bruce in that respect. I’m sure he knows the score that he’s been, along with Mike Ashley, public enemy number one for the Newcastle fans, who never welcomed him when he first arrived and never took to the circumstances he found himself managing in.
“It didn’t help that they loved his predecessor Rafael Benitez, who incidentally has lost again today to West Ham.”
And those comments really did not go down well with the Newcastle faithful, who were watching on TV.
Time for change?
Bruce can surely have few complaints if Newcastle’s new owners do look for a change of manager now.
The Magpies’ defeat yesterday leaves them in 19th place in the Premier League table, after a terrible start to the season.
Newcastle were actually rather fortunate that the defeat wasn’t a heavier one.
Bruce’s side started quickly in a feverish atmosphere yesterday, but were not able to maintain their standards, and Tottenham’s class ultimately told.
Newcastle now have a five day break until their next game against Crystal Palace, when there may be a change of personnel in the dugout.
