Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sunderland manager Lee Johnson suggested they were no longer a giant of English football.
What’s the story?
Well, it was only a lighthearted comment from the Sunderland boss, although it appears to have hit a nerve with Arsenal fans.
Speaking to Sunderland after the Black Cats reached the Carabao Cup quarter-final, the 40-year-old said: “I’d love to have Arsenal away or Tottenham away, or someone like that. Then we will wait for the really big guns when it is two legs.”
It was clearly a tongue-in-cheek remark, but Arsenal fans appear to have taken offence.
One fan said Johnson was ‘out of order’ while another described his comments as ‘unprofessional’ – we wouldn’t go that far.
Can people not show a bit of character and personality during interviews anymore? It’s no wonder most footballers speak like robots nowadays.
Arsenal will be praying they draw Sunderland

With the draw for the Carabao Cup quarter-final set to take place on Saturday, Arsenal will be desperate to draw Sunderland.
For one, they will be keen to make Johnson eat his words.
However, Mikel Arteta will also want to draw the Black Cats as they are the lowest ranked side left in the competition, so it would provide the easiest route into the semi-final – on paper at least.

After an underwhelming campaign last season, it would be great for the Gunners if they can secure a piece of silverware this term.
With Manchester City now out of the competition after losing to West Ham, Arsenal have a fantastic chance of winning the Carabao Cup, in our view.
For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Johnson after his remark…
