‘Out of nowhere’: Thierry Henry praises Liverpool player despite Napoli thrashing

Theirry Henry has praised Luis Diaz and his ability to produce a goal ‘out of nowhere’, as he did so during Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (07/09/22 at 10:10 pm).

There wasn’t much for Jurgen Klopp to shout about in Naples, with Liverpool suffering problems all over the shop, but perhaps their shining light was Diaz.

In a long list of problems the Reds need to solve, Diaz certainly isn’t one of them because, during an indifferent start to the season, he has perhaps been the club’s best player.

Some may point towards the Merseyside club missing Sadio Mane’s presence, energy and clinical edge in the final third, but Diaz is doing his utmost best to provide all of those.

Liverpool’s problems are far worse than just missing Mane because, if fans just concentrated on that, then they would just be papering over the cracks.

Nonetheless, Premier League legend Henry shared that Liverpool have been ‘really poor’, as he highlighted Diaz’s knack to do something from nothing.

“Well, he did get a goal, in the typical way in which Luis Diaz does,” said Henry. “But always something out of nowhere.

“He had another one where he nearly scored again. But we know that from him. It was really poor, for me, from Liverpool.”

BACK TO BASICS FOR LIVERPOOL

That aggression, bite and monster-like mentality is missing from this Liverpool team and it’s been on show all season long.

It could be argued that, towards the back end of last season, the team’s performances weren’t all that and there were a lot of question marks then.

But, at that time, it was all about the result, and nothing else, so it was probably brushed under the carpet. The only issue now for Klopp is that it’s still here and seemingly getting worse.

Liverpool still have the ability to go on a crazy run and they are talking about winning every trophy again, but as things stand, these are worrying times for those on Merseyside.
