Alan Shearer has said on Amazon that the challenge on Leeds United star Tyler Roberts from George Baldock was poor.

The Newcastle United legend, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and Amazon, believes that the challenge from the Sheffield United player on Leeds attacking midfielder Roberts could have been a red-card offence.

The controversial incident happened in the first half of the Premier League game between Leeds and the Blades at Elland Road this afternoon.

Leeds, who eventually won the game 2-1, were 1-0 up at the time when Blades defender Baldock brought down Roberts.

Baldock suffered a blow to the head and had to go off the pitch for treatment, but when he returned, he was not given even a yellow card.

Shearer said on Amazon: “It should have been definitely a yellow card, perhaps even a red card because he has clattered into him. He is out of control and it is a poor challenge.”

Baldock should have been given at least a yellow card, as it was a really bad challenge.

Fortunately, neither the Blades player nor Roberts was seriously hurt in the incident, and it did not affect the result in the end.

Leeds went on to win the Premier League game 2-1 to enhance their chances of finishing in the top 10.
