Darren Bent has told Talksport he will be at Derby County next season.
Bent has scored 13 goals in 41 games for Derby this campaign, after ending an eight-game drought in Saturday’s defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
The striker’s contract was due to expire this summer, although the Rams had an option to extend it by a further year.
And it appears as though this has now been exercised, despite the fact Bent turns 34 during the 2017-18 season.
When asked about his future on Talksport this morning (Wednesday), Bent replied: ” I’ve got another year on my contract so I’ll be here next season.
“I’ve been happy here, we’ve got a good bunch of lads down here. In previous seasons we’ve not quite got there but the club is going in the right direction, we’ve got good backing and we’ve got good players. So as long as we can hold on to them and make one or two additions I think we’ll be fine.”

Bent arrived at Derby on a free transfer from Aston Villa two summers ago, and has scored 28 goals in 85 games for the Rams.
Defensive duo Cyrus Christie and Chris Baird were also thought to be out of contract at Pride Park, although the Derby Telegraph reports that the former has already triggered an extension clause to keep him at the club until June 2018.

Changes are anticipated at Derby this summer, in what will be Gary Rowett’s first in charge of the club at which he spent three years a player.
