Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi could even miss the beginning of next season, it has emerged.

The Romania international picked up a season-ending injury in Rangers’ Scottish Cup victory over Stirling Albion in late January.

That problem meant that it was his last involvement for the Ibrox outfit until the 2022-23 campaign.

However, the problem could even potentially persist until August.

According to Edi Iordanescu – who manages Hadi at international level – the Rangers playmaker has told him that he could possibly be absent for six months.

He told The Scottish Sun: “I spoke to him twice and he may be unavailable for five to six months. It’s very unfortunate for him.”

Bigger blow

Clearly Hagi’s knee injury is worse than originally feared.

The 23-year-old, who cost the Gers £4 million under Steven Gerrard following a brilliant half-season loan, is a massive player for Rangers.

And the fact that his injury came quite late in the January window didn’t help the Scottish Premiership champions either, it has to be said.

However, Giovanni van Bronckhorst wound up signing Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus in what is an unbelievable coup for the Glasgow outfit.

The Dutch manager is gradually introducing Ramsey and hopefully for Rangers’ sake he can replace Hagi’s influence from midfield.
